Extra firepower for Livingston

Livingston FC have signed strikers Eugene Dadi and Rolando Zarate ahead of their UEFA Cup debut.

Livingston FC have signed two strikers to provide extra firepower ahead of their UEFA Cup debut next month.

Leishman impressed
The Scottish side have moved to bring Eugene Dadi and Rolando Zarate to Almondvale after last month's departure of David Fernández to champions Celtic FC. Dadi arrives at Almondvale after catching manager Jim Leishman's eye during his spell with Aberdeen FC last season. Zarate - a former player with Real Madrid CF - has signed a two-year deal after landing in Scotland via Argentinian side CA Vélez Sársfeld.

Key role
Both men were available on free transfers and will now have a key role to play when Livingston take their bow in UEFA competition against FC Vaduz from Liechtenstein. Their qualifying round first-leg match is scheduled for 13 August.

Good pedigree
Dadi, 28 and from the Ivory Coast, scored four goals in 28 appearances for Aberdeen after joining on loan from Toulouse FC. Zarate's pedigree in Spain and Argentina has convinced Livingston that the 23-year-old can help Livingston match last season's success when they claimed third place in the Premier League.

Ambitious policy
That achievement was built on an ambitious transfer policy that saw them recruit players from Spain, France and Italy on Bosman deals. This season they have already signed former Argentina international Sergio Berti and have now added more foreign talent to their ranks with the double striking swoop.
