Didava extends Torpedo loan

Georgian international Givi Didava is to spend another season on loan at FC Torpedo Kutaisi.

FC Torpedo Kutaisi captain Givi Didava is to spend another season on loan with the club.

Another year
The Georgian international defender has been at Torpedo for one-and-a-half years on a temporary deal, but the club will now secure their skipper permanently after promising to pay the full amount of their loan fee to Tel-Aviv, of which they currently owe half.

Contract expiring
Torpedo spokesman Vladimir Panov said: "The Georgia Football Federation guarantees that our club will pay the whole amount by October this year. After this is done, Didava will be our property because his contract with Maccabi Tel-Aviv expires in December."

Europe awaits
Before making his move to Israel, Didava - who has won 14 caps for Georgia - played for FC Dinamo Tbilisi, but he has also spent a previous spell with Torpedo as well as playing in Belgium for KV Mechelen. He is likely to be called into action as Torpedo face AC Sparta Praha in the second qualifying round of this season's UEFA Champions League as the two sides vye for a game against KRC Genk in the third round.
