Belgium breeze past San Marino

San Marino 0-4 Belgium Two goals in each half keep the visitors one point clear at the summit of Group 7.

Never in doubt
With Serbia and Montenegro beating Spain earlier today, Belgium needed victory to restore their one-point lead, but that was never in doubt against a team who had lost all five fixtures before this game, including a competition record 14-0 defeat by Spain in February.

Belgian goals
Maarten Martens took seven minutes to open the scoring and Tom de Mul made it 2-0 eleven minutes before half-time. Christopher Baratto struck five minutes after the break and Dieter Van Tornhout completed the rout late on. Belgium now travel to Serbia and Montenegro for a vital qualifier on 3 June, when San Marino welcome Bosnia-Herzegovina.
