Welsh miss chance
Another victory for Wales would have taken them up to third, and within a point of second-placed Germany albeit with an extra game played. However, they are now only one point above Austria after a match which they ended with ten men.
Samuel clincher
Roman Kienast gave Austria a ninth-minute lead, and on 57 minutes Craig Morgan was sent off for a foul on Alexander Pöllhuber. With Wales tiring, Jürgen Saumel struck ten minutes from time.
