Drogba targets Van Nistelrooij mark

Chelsea FC's Didier Drogba is aiming to wrest top spot from the tournament's leading scorer Ruud van Nistelrooij.

Two for Crespo
The Manchester United FC marksman scored eight goals in six group stage games but failed to find the net as the English side were eliminated by Milan in the first knockout round. Hernán Crespo registered in both legs of that tie to take his tally to four, one behind Drogba and two adrift of Rossoneri team-mate Shevchenko.

On target
Shevchenko scored in both instalments of the quarter-final defeat of FC Internazionale Milano and added another to his total in the 2-0 semi-final first leg win against PSV Eindhoven at the San Siro on Tuesday. Likewise, Drogba was on target in both of Chelsea's last-eight games against FC Bayern München having played only 56 minutes of the previous tie against FC Barcelona following his second-half dismissal at Camp Nou.

Chelsea charge
Chelsea and England duo Frank Lampard and John Terry are on four strikes along with Liverpool FC's leading scorer in the Champions League, Luis García. PSV Eindhoven's top marksman is United States midfield player DaMarcus Beasley on three goals. Inter's Adriano and Bayern's Roy Makaay are one behind Van Nistelrooij, with Sylvain Wiltord of Olympique Lyonnais on six goals.
