KS Amica Wronki 5-0 TNS Llansantffraid FC
KS Amica Wronki made short work of Welsh guests TNS Llansantffraid FC in today's UEFA Cup qualifying round first-leg encounter in Poland, rattling in five goals without reply after hitting top gear in the second half.
The visitors were able to keep the score down to a single goal in the first 45 minutes, but crumbled after the break, leaving Amica with an easy task to qualify for the first round.
Amica started brightly, and almost took the lead after 30 seconds when Tomasz Dawidowski hit the bar. However, the Polish pressure subsided, and for the next half hour, Llansantffraid were able to keep their goal intact.
Bieniuk breaks through
The breakthrough finally came after 35 minutes, when Jacek Dembinski headed down to Jaroslaw Bieniuk, who made no mistake from inside the area.
Toner misses golden chance
Llansantffraid might have equalised soon after the break, but John Toner missed a golden chance, lobbing over the bar. The Welsh side were made to rue that miss as Amica slowly went through the gears to brush them aside.
Dembinski made it 2-0 after 56 minutes following good work by Marek Zienczuk, and substitute Grzegorz Król added a third from Dembinski's cross eight minutes later. Number four arrived ten minutes from the end when Dawidowski’s shot fell out of goalkeeper Dean Williams's grasp and into the net.
Amica were totally in control now, and Dawidowski wrapped up a satisfactory second-half performance for the home side when he netted a fifth goal close to the final whistle.
Chances will come
“This result should guarantee that we qualify, but the first half was weak,” said Amica coach Miroslaw Jablonski after the game. “When you play a team like Llansantffraid, you have to organise your game, and the chances will come.”
New professional team
“We’re building a new professional team, and at the moment, you could compare us to a small child,” said Llansantffraid assistant coach John Carole. “Amica could have scored more goals, and we will have to make a deep analysis. We can’t play against teams like Amica at the moment.”
