Pobeda emerge from red mist

FK Pobeda 2-0 FC Midtjylland The men from F.Y.R. Macedonia take charge of this tie.

FK Pobeda 2-0 FC Midtjylland

Pobeda moved closer to a UEFA Cup first-round berth after a comfortable home win over Midtjylland tonight.

Strong position An own goal from defender Martin Nielsen and a second-half strike by Pobeda's Sasko Krtev came either side of a red card for Midtylland’s Nicolai Jorgensen. The result leaves the F.Y.R Macedonian side in the driving seat for the return leg in Norway in two weeks' time.

Rapid attack
The hosts took the lead when a rapid counterattack ended with Marjan Nacev firing in a shot from the left-hand side of the area which Nielsen could only help into his own net.

Red card
Midtjylland's plight worsened when Jorgensen was sent off leaving the visitors to face an impressive Pobeda side with only ten men. Yet the Norwegians should have grabbed an equaliser when Razak Pimpong went close after the break.

Neat interplay
Pobeda increased their lead with 20 minutes left, when some neat interplay between Toni Micevski and Blaze Dordieski set up Krtev, who made no mistake and fired in.
