Kallon out of crunch tie

Internazionale FC's Mohammed Kallon is out of next week's UEFA Champions League match.

Internazionale FC forward Mohammed Kallon will miss his side's crucial UEFA Champions League tie against Sporting Clube de Portugal next week.

Delicately poised tie
The Sierra Leone striker suffered a groin injury in his left leg after a clash with Daniele Adani during a training session. Inter's medical staff have estimated the recovery period to be at least one month, definitely ruling him out of next week's second-leg third qualifying round match at the San Siro stadium against Sporting. The tie is delicately poised at 0-0 after the first leg in Portugal.

Big blow
The injury is a big blow for Inter coach Hector Cúper, who will also be without Nicola Ventola, who underwent knee surgery recently. Additionally doubts still surround the future of the club's Brazilian striker Ronaldo and Italian international Christian Vieri might not fully recover from a groin problem in time for the encounter.

Recoba and Corradi fit
At the moment, Cúper can only count on the services of Uruguayan international Alvaro Recoba and new signing Bernardo Corradi as he ponders his striking options.
