Exciting night completes lineup

FC Artmedia Bratislava and Shelbourne FC set up second qualifying round ties against former European champions.

Former European champions Celtic FC and FC Steaua Bucuresti both know their opponents next week after the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round lineup was decided last night.

Celtic encounter
Celtic, winners in 1967, will go to Champions League newcomers FC Artmedia Bratislava who overcame FC Kairat Almaty 4-3 on aggregate courtesy of substitute Pavol Stano's goal late in extra time, the Kazakhstani team having travelled to Slovakia 2-0 up. Like all the ties, the first leg will be next Tuesday or Wednesday, with the return a week later, by which stage the third qualifying round draw will have been made.

Steaua visit Ireland
Meanwhile, Steaua take on Shelbourne FC, who came through the all-Ireland affair with Glentoran FC 4-1, to prevail 6-2 on aggregate. F91 Dudelange's reward for becoming the first Luxembourg side to win a Champions League tie with a 4-0 extra-time success in Bosnia-Herzegovina against NK Zrinjski - who still held their 1-0 first-leg advantage in the 92nd minute of normal time - is a meeting with SK Rapid Wien.

Tirana feat
On a night of comebacks, KF Tirana overturned a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Slovenia's NK Gorica with a 3-0 victory in Albania. They now play PFC CSKA Sofia, while RSC Anderlecht will take on PFC Neftchi of Azerbaijan, who despite being reduced to ten men before half-time in Iceland, defeated FH Hafnarfjördur 2-1 on the night and 4-1 overall.

Quartet advance
Other teams coming through on Wednesday were Cypriot champions Anorthosis Famagusta FC, who will play Trabzonspor after beating FC Dinamo Minsk, Finland's FC Haka, whose win against FC Pyunik earns them a tie with Vålerenga IF, Moldovan side FC Sheriff, overcoming Sliema Wanderers FC to set up an FK Partizan fixture, and FK Rabotnicki, who could afford a 1-0 defeat at Skonto FC thanks to a 6-0 first-leg triumph in F.Y.R. Macedonia. They now encounter FC Lokomotiv Moskva.

Liverpool pairing
Already established was holders Liverpool FC's pairing with Lithuanian champions FBK Kaunas while, elsewhere on Tuesday, FC Dinamo Tbilisi earned a tie with Brøndby IF. Three other ties pair teams given byes to the second qualifying round - Hungary's Debreceni VSC against HNK Hajduk Split of Croatia, Malmö FF versus Maccabi Haifa FC and group stage regulars FC Dynamo Kyiv's clash with Swiss debutants FC Thun.
