Luque break for Deportivo

RC Deportivo La Coruña have ended their search for a striker by signing Albert Luque.

Eight-year deal
The 24-year-old, a member of Spain's 2002 FIFA World Cup finals squad, has agreed an eight-year contract after a week of negotiations between the Primera División clubs. The deal will cost Deportivo €15m plus strikers Turu Flores and Walter Pandiani, who will move in the opposite direction.

Ready to go
"I have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Spain and I want to start now," said Luque, who could make his debut against Valencia CF on Sunday and will play in this year's UEFA Champions League after representing Mallorca in last season's competition. Deportivo have been drawn in Group G along with FC Bayern München, Milan AC and RC Lens.

Pandiani pleased
Meanwhile, Pandiani, who has gone on a one-year loan with the option of a permanent transfer, was pleased to be given the chance to shine at Mallorca. "They want me to play on Sunday," said the Uruguayan forward. Team-mate Flores signed a three-year contract. Mallorca president Mateo Alemany said: "The Deportivo deal was the best thing for Luque and for us."
