Galatasaray SK have boosted their UEFA Champions League hopes with the signing of Mexican defender Sergio Almaguer on a six-month loan.
'I can have success in Europe'
The defender impressed Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim with his performances for Deportivo Cruz Azul and is confident that he can handle the switch to European football this season. "I will show that I can have success in Europe and I hope I will give a lot to Galatasaray," said Almaguer.
'We are losing a great player'
Cruz Azul vice-president Alfredo Alvarez was sorry to confirm that the 33-year-old player was leaving the Mexico City club, but remained convinced that it was the best option for Almaguer. "We are losing a great player, but we didn't want to disrupt Almaguer's career," he said. "He wanted to leave because it's very important for him to play in a European team and the European competitions."
