Debrecen strike five in Split

HNK Hajduk Split 0-5 Debreceni VSC (agg: 0-8) Rampant Debrecen tee up Manchester United FC fixture.

If a 3-0 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first-leg win was not enough for Debreceni VSC to feel they had done enough to pass HNK Hajduk Split, five unanswered goals for the Hungarian visitors to Croatia settled all doubts.

Debrecen cruise
Debrecen struck in the first minute tonight through Péter Halmosi. Now Hajduk needed five goals, but it was the away team that made swift progress towards that tally with two quick goals midway through the half through Zsombor Kerekes and another from Halmosi.

Old Trafford trip
Ibrahima Sidi Be made it four 14 minutes from the end and Zoltán Kiss applied the finishing touch in added time. Debrecen's reward for their fine performance is a tie with Manchester United FC, and they will visit Old Trafford next week.
