Saha suffers new injury blow

Louis Saha will miss the start of Manchester United FC's UEFA Champions League campaign due to knee surgery.

Manchester United FC striker Louis Saha will miss the start of the club's UEFA Champions League campaign after undergoing a knee operation on Thursday.

Injury hoodoo
"Louis Saha yesterday had arthroscopic surgery for damage to the medial meniscus in his right knee. Louis will be out for a number of weeks," said a club spokesman. The French international, who will be 27 next week, has suffered a catalogue of injuries since joining United from Fulham FC in January 2004, and looks likely to miss both legs of the third qualifying round tie against Debreceni VSC, with the home match on Tuesday.

Solskjær return
However, United have the consolation of Ole Gunnar Solskjær's imminent return to action. Solskjær, 32, has spent almost two full seasons on the sidelines, save for a 2004 FA Cup final appearance against Millwall FC, with a knee injury doctors feared would end his career. "He is now back in training and, you never know, maybe he could be fit for the start of the season," said manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
