Brøndby the right move for Rasmussen

Danish champions Brøndby IF have signed the 28-year-old winger Thomas Rasmussen from FC Hansa Rostock of the German second division.

Pride of Denmark
The 28-year-old Danish international arrives on a five-year contract, to the delight of both player and club. "I have known about Brøndby's interest for a long time and am relieved and thrilled that things have finally worked out. For me, Brøndby are Denmark's best club and the only club in the country that would interest me," said Rasmussen, the former FC Nordsjælland player who won the second of two national-team caps in April 2004.

Ineligible for Ajax
"We have been interested in bringing Thomas home for a long time, so I am happy we have now reached an agreement with Hansa Rostock," said Brøndby director Per Bjerregaard. Rasmussen is ineligible for the second leg of Brøndby's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie against AFC Ajax, with his new team travelling to the Netherlands following a 2-2 home draw.
