FC Schalke 04 have been handicapped for their UEFA Cup tie against FC Gomel after Germany defender Jörg Böhme was ruled out for four weeks.
Muscle problem
The charismatic left-back, who missed out on the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals because of injury, has suffered a muscle problem in his left thigh. During training yesterday, he received a hard blow in a tackle with Andreas Möller to worsen coach Frank Neubarth's injury worries.
Mpenza sidelined
Schalke are already without Victor Agali and Nico van Kerckhoven while Belgian international Emile Mpenza is slowly returning to fitness after a thigh injury which was slightly worsened through his participation in Belgium's EURO 2004™ qualifying fixture with Bulgaria.
