Draw dashes Polish hopes

Poland 2-2 Austria Andreas Lasnik's equalising penalty means Poland are out of the running in Group 6.

Twins strike
The Poles won the corresponding fixture 3-0 in Austria, yet found themselves behind inside three minutes tonight as Thomas Parager beat goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak with a header. Poland recovered to dominate the half, with their attractive and incisive wing play unhinging the Austrians, and deservedly went ahead thanks to goals from Wisla Kraków twins Pawel Brozek (20 minutes) and his brother Piotr (25).

Lesnik penalty
Austria upped the tempo after the break as they went in search of a point, but had to wait until the 59th minute to secure it. Home defender Antoni Lukasiewicz committed a foul in the penalty area and Andreas Lasnik stepped up to convert the spot-kick. With their play-off hopes slipping away, Pawel Strak burst through only to see his drive rebound off a post.
