Kaká craft delights Ancelotti

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti praised Brazilian playmaker Kaká's superb two-goal display in the 3-1 win against Fenerbahçe SK.

AC Milan began their UEFA Champions League Group E campaign in style, as two superb individual goals from Brazilian playmaker Kaká and a last-minute Andriy Shevchenko strike gave them a 3-1 victory against Fenerbahçe SK. The Turkish champions had threatened a Matchday 1 shock when Alex levelled for the visitors from the penalty spot after Nicolas Anelka had been brought down, but Milan's strength shone through in the closing stages.

Carlo Ancelotti, Milan coach
It was the first game of the group and was natural that we would have some problems tonight. Fenerbahçe are a good side with some excellent players but I feel we deserved to win. Alongside us, I think they are the best team in the group. Kaká was magnificent tonight. He is playing at the top of his game and just has to continue this run of form. I was happy with the way we played. It was our plan to give them a lot of possession and play on the counterattack and it worked.

Christophe Daum, Fenerbahçe coach
I have to congratulate my players for the way they performed for the first 87 minutes of the game. Tonight we have learned that against top sides like Milan we must keep our concentration for the full 90 minutes. We had some good chances to score but failed to take them and that has cost us. In football, that is the most important statistic because it's only results that count.
