Magath still not satisfied

Felix Magath said FC Bayern München could still improve after the German side narrowly defeated Club Brugge KV in the first UEFA Champions League match played at the München Arena. Martin Demichelis struck the only goal on 32 minutes to move his side level on six points with their next opponents, Juventus FC. Club Brugge and SK Rapid Wien are yet to get off the mark.

Felix Magath, Bayern coach
I wish we had played better and achieved a clearer victory. We had problems because we were unable to be more efficient despite our dominance in the air. In my eyes, the best player on the pitch was Zé Roberto, who worked hard and created most of our attacks. José Paolo Guerrero was important for us because he always wanted to get hold of the ball up front, but you could see that Roy Makaay is still not at his best. Against Juventus, I am sure Roy will be back on track.

Jan Ceulemans, Brugge coach
In the first half we were lucky that we only conceded one goal. But we kept trying to create goal chances and we might have scored at least an equaliser after the break. We are disappointed because we did not deserve to lose the match, but I am still satisfied with the performance of my team because nobody expected us to even have a chance to earn a point here. However, we expected it to be hard against Juventus and Bayern and now we have to do our best against Rapid.

Roy Makaay, Bayern forward
I don't care how we win our matches as long as we win them. However, we wanted to attack from the first minute and we did that. I was satisfied with my performance. If you have a week off as a striker, it's always hard to get back into the swing of it. I have to be patient and I will get stronger every match.

Martin Demichelis, Bayern midfielder
We know that we can play better, although we must be satisfied that we at least won the match. I have no doubts that we will improve and achieve something big in the Champions League. Personally, I am proud that I played a full 90 minutes again and I hope to establish myself as a first-team regular and therefore an important player for the team.
