Hickersberger bemoans bad luck

SK Rapid Wien coach Josef Hickersberger was left pondering ill fortune after his side suffered a narrow defeat at home against Club Brugge KV.

An entertaining game in Vienna was settled by a single goal from Boško Balaban 15 minutes from time as Club Brugge KV got their first victory in UEFA Champions League Group A to move them within three points of Juventus FC and leave SK Rapid Wien's hopes hanging by a thread after three defeats.

Josef Hickersberger, Rapid coach
We thought we could win against Club Brugge before the match and we still believe we could have. We had more chances against them than we had against [FC] Bayern München but we lost and that is all that counts. We have no points and no goals after three matches now but I think we will have our chances in Bruges and that is what we are working on.

Jan Ceulemans, Club Brugge coach
It was a big match with lots of chances, we were a bit lucky but we won. It's a big step forward towards third place but we are two equal teams and Rapid still have a chance in Bruges. So we have to be very careful, everything is possible in the [UEFA] Champions League.

Steffen Hofmann, Rapid captain
We played against a very good team but we should have scored at least once with the number of chances we had. I thought we had some really bad luck today, we had so many more chances than in our two previous [UEFA] Champions League matches. Obviously we used all our luck last season and it's gone this year.

Gert Verheyen, Club Brugge forward
This win was very important for us because we have had some really bad luck in the last few weeks. Today we were the lucky team. It was an open match and both teams could have won and but the group is still open.
