Announcing Hakan Yakin's arrival

FC Basel's Swiss international almost produces an early contender for goal of the season.
FC Basel announced their arrival in the UEFA Champions League group phase with a bang on Tuesday – with Hakan Yakin looking the best of an impressive bunch.

Brilliant moment
Yakin scored in the Swiss team's 2-0 win over FC Spartak Moskva. However, before he found the target, Yakin went close to producing what would have been a sure-fire contender for the competition's goal of the season.

Athletic bicycle-kick
An athletic bicycle-kick from a long, wide free-kick tested Spartak goalkeeper Stanislav Cherchessov to the full. It was almost a goal to remember. To pull a piece of skill like this out of the bag requires timing, co-ordination, power and total confidence. Hakan Yakin is one to watch on the European scene this term.
