Article summary
AC Sparta Praha's Czech international Libor Sionko faces a month out after knee surgery.
Article body
Wounded knee
The 25-year-old twisted his knee during last night's UEFA Cup tie against NK Široki Brijeg. While initial fears that he had torn ligaments were allayed, tests revealed cartilage damage.
Missed appointments
Sionko, who claimed an assist in a 3-0 win, will now miss the second leg in Bosnia-Herzegovina in a fortnight's time as well as the Czech Republic's EURO 2004™ qualifiers against Moldova and Belarus next month. His absence is a blow to national coach Karel Brückner who is already without Vladimir Šmicer.
