Richardson's birthday bonus

Young Manchester United FC winger Kieran Richardson has signed a new four-year contract to keep him at Old Trafford until June 2009.

Birthday treat
The youngster celebrated his 21st birthday by penning the new agreement with the club. "I am happy to commit my future to Manchester United," said the player, who spent last season on loan with West Bromwich Albion FC. "It's the club where I want to be and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else."

Staying put
Richardson has made four international appearances for England, scoring two goals on his debut in a friendly against the United States in the summer. He elected to stay at Old Trafford this season despite the offer of another loan spell and has made eight appearances so far, mostly deputising for Gabriel Heinze at left-back.
