Thanked for efforts
Semin confirmed his decision in a meeting today with Football Union of Russia president Vitali Mutko, who thanked the outgoing coach for his efforts. Gershkovich in frame
The 58-year-old is set to move back to club football, and could succeed the sacked Ivo Wortmann at FC Dinamo Moskva. Former Under-21 coach Mikhail Gershkovich, who led Russia to the 1998 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals, is tipped to replace him at the helm.
Yartsev replacement
Semin took charge of Russia in April, following the departure of Georgi Yartsev in the wake of a disappointing 1-1 draw in Estonia. Semin had just guided FC Lokomotiv Moskva to the 2004 title, their second championship in three years. His contract with Russia had been due to expire on 31 December.
