Squad debutant
The 24-year-old midfield player is included for the first time, in a 19-man squad for the Group 4 match in Warsaw. Joining Zienczuk are FC Schalke 04's Tomasz Hajto and Jacek Zielinski from Legia Warszawa. Hajto is recalled having been dropped following Poland's poor showing at the FIFA World Cup, while fellow defender Zielinski is back from injury.
Mieciel back in favour
There is also a place for Greece-based striker Marcin Mieciel, whom Boniek saw in UEFA Cup action with Iraklis FC last night. Mieciel's previous cap came in April 2001. Poland won their first EURO 2004™ qualifier 2-0 in San Marino last month.
