LOSC Lille Métropole midfielder Mathieu Bodmer has agreed a new contract that will keep him at the Ligue 1 club until 2011.

International future
The 23-year-old has been a key man in Lille's UEFA Champions League campaign, playing in all five Group D games to date. Bodmer joined the northern French team for the 2003/04 season from SM Caen and has been capped by his country at Under-21 level.

Looking forward
"It's a big vote of confidence from a player who was much sought after," said Lille, after agreeing the improved deal. The club will qualify for the UEFA Champions League knockout phase if they beat Villarreal CF on Matchday 6. They are fifth in Ligue 1, three points off second spot.
