Moretti sidelined by hamstring

Emiliano Moretti will miss Juventus FC's next UEFA Champions League game because of injury.

Juventus FC defender Emiliano Moretti has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out of action for at least 20 days.

Limped out
The former AC Fiorentina player limped out of yesterday’s 1-1 home draw against newly-promoted Como Calcio and will miss Italy's UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers against Yugoslavia and Wales and Juventus’s next UEFA Champions League match against Newcastle United FC on 23 October.

Pessotto could be back
The 21-year-old defender has started the current season superbly, replacing injured defender Gianluca Pessotto in the Turin side and winning many plaudits. Regarded as one of the most promising young players in Italy, the left-footed defender made his Serie A debut in March 2001 with Fiorentina and played six matches in the UEFA Cup last year. Pessotto is still recovering from his knee injury but could return in time for the Group E match against Newcastle.
