Italian title-holders Juventus face Werder Bremen, while FC Internazionale Milano will encounter another club with a proud European pedigree, AFC Ajax. The Amsterdam team's fellow Eredivisie challengers PSV Eindhoven, semi-finalists last term, landed Olympique Lyonnais in a repeat of the quarter-final won by the Dutch side in April. The French champions overpowered Bremen 10-2 on aggregate at this stage last season, and the Bundesliga outfit face another stern test in Juve.

Holders face Benfica
The two clubs appearing in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds for the first time, Rangers FC and Villarreal CF, will compete for a place in the last eight, while holders Liverpool FC must tackle SL Benfica, Manchester United FC's nemesis. The Round of 16 will take place over two legs on 21/22 February and 7/8 March, with the group winner in each tie playing the second leg at home.

Paris match
At its meeting on Monday, the UEFA Club Competitions Committee agreed that, due to the stadium clash between Milan and Inter, the Nerazzurri would play their return match on Tuesday 14 March as they finished below Milan in Serie A last season. After this round, the quarter-finals and semi-finals will follow before the final, due to be staged at the Stade de France in Paris on 17 May.
