PSV plump for youthful promise

PSV Eindhoven have signed Spanish defender José Plá Moya from Valencia CF, while midfielder Ibrahim Afellay has committed to the club until 2010.

PSV Eindhoven have signed precocious Spanish defender José Plá Moya from Valencia CF, while Netherlands Under-21 midfield player Ibrahim Afellay has committed to the club until 2010.

Moya move
The 18-year-old Moya will link up with the Dutch champions in January after agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal with the club yesterday. The left-back has attracted interest from clubs across Europe but one-time Valencia coach Guus Hiddink persuaded him the Philips stadium offered a brighter future.

Home-grown talent
It was a good day all round for the Eindhoven outfit after the highly regarded Afellay tied himself to PSV until 2010. The 19-year-old has become an integral part of the side since making his first start for the club in April, helping them to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League where they will face French side Olympique Lyonnais.
