Rangers passion delights McLeish

Alex McLeish said he would "run out of superlatives" if Rangers FC could eliminate Villarreal CF following their 2-2 first-leg draw at Ibrox.

Alex McLeish, Rangers manager
The effort was fantastic. We can play better but the spirit, determination and passion was there. We played against a very good side. You can see how important Riquelme is - he is different class. We showed that we were never out of it - we never have been in the Champions League. It's the ninth game and we are still alive. They are favourites with two away goals but it's not finished. If we can get through to the next round, I would run out of superlatives.

Manuel Pellegrini, Villarreal coach
I think we should have won, but it's more important we finish the job when we get home. I think in the first half we played a good game and should have killed it off, but the second period was harder. We had opportunities to finish the tie, but we did not do it. Over the 90 minutes of the second leg anything can happen.
