New deal for Benítez

Valencia CF have confirmed that coach Rafael Benítez has signed a two-year contract extension.

Spanish champions Valencia CF confirmed today that coach Rafael Benítez has signed a two-year contract extension.

First title in 31 years
Benítez has agreed to stay at the Mestalla until June 2005 following three days of talks with club officials. The 42-year-old, who led Valencia to their first title in 31 years in his first season at the club last term, would have been out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Backroom staff
Benítez's technical staff of assistant Antonio López, fitness trainer Francisco Ayestarán and goalkeeping coach José Manuel Ochotorena will also remain with the club for another two seasons.
