Udinese unveil new coaching team

Nestor Sensini, 39, has ended his playing career after being named as the new co-coach of Udinese Calcio along with Loris Dominissini.

Argentinian midfield player Nestor Sensini has ended his playing career after being named as the new co-coach of Udinese Calcio along with Loris Dominissini.

UEFA Cup
Udinese turned to the pair after parting company with Serse Cosmi earlier today in the wake of Wednesday's 2-1 home defeat by Reggina Calcio. Cosmi joined Udinese last summer to replace Luciano Spalletti, who left for AS Roma after leading the side to a fourth-place finish in Serie A and qualification for the UEFA Champions League. Under Cosmi, Udinese failed to progress beyond the competition's group stage although they have moved into the UEFA Cup, where they will meet RC Lens in the Round of 32 on 15 and 23 February.

'Work hard'
However, it was Udinese's domestic form that convinced the board to part with the 47-year-old, with the Friuli club sitting just four points ahead of the relegation zone in 13th spot. Sensini and Dominissini, who guided Como Calcio from the third division to Serie A, will hope for a change in fortune when they lead the side for the first time on Saturday against S.S. Lazio. Sensini, 39, said of his decision to retire: "I was already planning to start my coaching career in the summer and I'm glad that the club have faith in me. We have to roll up our sleeves now and work hard."
