Verón absent for Ajax encounter

An injury to his right ankle will force Juan Sebastián Verón to sit out FC Internazionale Milano's Round of 16 game away to AFC Ajax next week.

Treatment required
The Argentinian international limped out of the 2-1 defeat by Juventus on Sunday after twisting his right ankle. Although he underwent a scan on yesterday which excluded any fracture, Verón is still expected to be out of action for three weeks. The 30-year-old definitely misses Saturday's Serie A trip to AS Livorno Calcio and the visit to Amsterdam, and is also likely to be unavailable for league fixtures against Udinese Calcio and AS Roma, although he should have recovered by the time Ajax travel to Italy on 14 March. Verón has made 21 league appearances this season and four in the UEFA Champions League.
