Kapo's cheek pays off

A 'bridge-building' exercise leads to a goal for AJ Auxerre's Olivier Kapo against Arsenal FC.

A striking example of what is known as a 'small bridge' in French gave AJ Auxerre the ideal start in this week's UEFA Champions League match with Arsenal FC at Highbury.

Stunning effect
Auxerre forward Olivier Kapo picks up the ball in a seemingly innocuous position on the right – but then takes his fate into his own hands to stunning effect.

'Nutmeg'
Kapo cheekily pushes the ball through the legs of Arsenal midfield player Patrick Vieira – a 'petit pont' (small bridge), or 'nutmeg' in English – and lashes a splendid left-foot drive past goalkeeper David Seaman to send Auxerre on their way to an unexpected 2-1 win.
