Heitinga injury hurts Ajax chances

AFC Ajax's hopes of overcoming FC Internazionale Milano have been hit by an injury to Johnny Heitinga which will rule the defender out for six weeks.
AFC Ajax's hopes of overcoming FC Internazionale Milano in the UEFA Champions League first knockout round have been hit by an injury to defender Johnny Heitinga which will rule the Dutch international out for six weeks.

Awkward landing
The 22-year-old has been diagnosed with a bruised kidney, which he appears to have sustained during Wednesday's 2-2 first-leg draw against the Italian side in Amsterdam. "It must have happened midway through the second half when he fell badly," said coach Danny Blind. Heitinga's rehabilitation will entail three weeks of rest followed by a similar period of non-contact training. Ajax travel to Inter for the second leg on 14 March.
