Delgado setting scoring standards

FC Basel 1893 midfielder Matías Delgado is leading the way in the UEFA Cup scoring charts with his six goals helping the Swiss side reach the quarter-finals.

Prolific form
The 23-year-old Argentinian has found the net six times in his club's nine matches to date and will have every confidence of adding to that when the Swiss champions travel to French strugglers RC Strasbourg. Delgado was on target after eight minutes of the first leg a week ago as Basel won 2-0 to secure a comfortable cushion to defend at La Meinau.

Five goals each
Delgado is one goal ahead of a cluster of nine players who each have five goals to their name, although only four of those will be able to add to their tally. AFC Rapid Bucuresti striker Mugurel Buga helped the Romanian club eliminate Hamburger SV in the Round of 32 with a goal in each leg, while Frédéric Kanouté, Victoras Iacob and Aleksandr Kerzhakov were all on target this week to help Sevilla FC, FC Steaua Bucuresti and FC Zenit St. Petersburg respectively into the last eight.
