Juventus rue disciplinary woe

Juventus will be without three suspended players as they attempt to overhaul a two-goal deficit against Arsenal FC while Carles Puyol returns for FC Barcelona.

Juventus's hopes of a comeback against Arsenal FC in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie have been further reduced by the knowledge that they will be without three key players through suspension.

Nedvěd return
Trailing 2-0 from the first leg at Highbury, the Bianconeri will need to be at their best to haul themselves back in contention for a place in the last four and a tie with Villarreal CF. They must do so without Mauro Camoranesi and Jonathan Zebina following late dismissals in England but the biggest loss could be that of Patrick Vieira, who picked up a third yellow card on his former stamping ground. The return of Pavel Nedvěd will help soften the blow, however, after the Czech international completed a similar punishment.

Barça return
Should they achieve the improbable, then Robert Kovać, Lilian Thuram and David Trezeguet will be aware that another booking would see them miss the semi-final first legs while for Arsenal, José Antonio Reyes and Kolo Touré walk the same tightrope. In Wednesday's other tie, FC Barcelona have no less than four players on the brink after a yellow card for Deco in the first leg against SL Benfica saw him join Rafael Márquez, Mark van Bommel and Oleguer Presas in the list of players teetering on the verge of suspension.

Puyol return
Barça's concern will be alleviated by the return of influential defender Carles Puyol, however, as they attempt to build on a goalless draw eight days ago. Although a weekend knock has left him doubtful, Nuno Gomes is also back in the reckoning for Benfica, who have midfielder Beto on the brink as the Iberian sides bid to earn a semi-final meeting with AC Milan.
