Dynamo despair over Peev

FC Dynamo Kyiv have lost Georgi Peev for the UEFA Cup third round first leg against Besiktas JK.

FC Dynamo Kyiv's Georgi Peev will not be back in time for the first leg of their UEFA Cup third-round tie against Besiktas JK.

Hip problem
The Bulgarian international midfielder suffered a hip injury before the final UEFA Champions League match against Juventus, which Dynamo lost 2-1 to ensure they could only finish third in Group E and qualify for the UEFA Cup. Medical staff have now ruled him out of the trip to Istanbul a week on Thursday.

Coach concerned
"He was injured before the game with Juventus, and I think this terribly tough season is the reason, our key players are worn out," said Dynamo coach Anatoly Demianenko. Peev has played 21 games for Dynamo this season, helping them to fourth place in the Ukrainian Premier League after 15 matches.

International absence
Peev, who was left out by Bulgaria for tomorrow night's friendly with Spain because of the injury, will also miss Sunday's Ukrainian Cup quarter-final second leg against FC Vorskla Poltava which Dynamo lead 1-0. The club's last match before the winter break is the second leg against Besiktas on 12 December.
