FC Steaua Bucuresti have brought in midfielder Ovidiu Petre from FCU Politehnica Timisoara and French forward Cyril Théreau from R. Charleroi SC.

Exciting reunion
The UEFA Champions League contenders have signed 24-year-old Romanian international Petre for a fee in the region of €1m. "The dream came true," said Petre after penning a five-year contract. "I will play for the biggest club in Romania." The move reunites Petre with his former mentor at FC National 2000 Bucuresti, Cosmin Olaroiu, who also coached him in Timisoara. Petre quit National for Galatasaray SK in January 2004 but was transferred to Politehnica the following year.

Early-season form
Meanwhile, towering 23-year-old forward Théreau has secured a four-year deal with the Romanian champions having impressed Olaroiu with his early-season form. In Belgium to cast his eye over Charleroi's Fabien Camus, the Steaua boss diverted his attentions to team-mate Théreau, who had scored three goals in four games since arriving at Charleroi from Angers SCO. The switch to Bucharest, for a fee of around €600,000, completes a prodigious rise for Théreau, who has gone from the French third tier to the UEFA Champions League in a matter of months.
