Gattuso left out
The Italian international has been omitted from coach Carlo Ancelotti's squad for the Westfalenstadion trip having failed to respond to treatment on the injury which kept him out of Saturday's league win over AS Roma.
Training ground injury
Gattuso, 24, damaged his left thigh in training last week. His replacement will be Azzurri team-mate Massimo Ambrosini, who played alongside the former AC Perugia, Rangers FC and Salernitana Sport man in the 1-0 victory over Real Madrid CF on Matchday 7, two weeks ago.
Rivaldo in
Meanwhile, Ancelotti has included the Brazilian Rivaldo in the party, despite the thigh injury he picked up against Madrid which sidelined him for the Roma game.
