Hargreaves broken leg confirmed

FC Bayern München will be without England midfielder Owen Hargreaves for at least six weeks after he suffered a broken leg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

FC Bayern München will be without England midfielder Owen Hargreaves for at least six weeks after it was confirmed he suffered a broken leg in Saturday's Bundesliga defeat at DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Magath fear
The 25-year-old was taken off 24 minutes into the 2-1 loss after colliding with Arminia's Thorben Marx. Bayern coach Felix Magath said: "We think he may have a broken fibula. We will know more after an examination." If those fears are realised, Hargreaves faces a considerable spell on the sidelines.

Vital fixtures
Hargreaves stayed at Bayern this summer having been the subject of a bid from Manchester United FC. Bayern's next UEFA Champions League fixture is a 27 September trip to FC Internazionale Milano and Hargreaves, recently estabilished as a regular starter in England's midfield, could also miss a portion of their UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying campaign, which continues on 7 October at home to F.Y.R. Macedonia followed four days later by a Group E trip to Croatia.
