Gonzalo Castro will miss Bayer 04 Leverkusen's opening UEFA Cup group-stage game against Club Brugge KV after injuring his shoulder in a Bundesliga match.

Suspected fracture
The German Under-21 international left-back damaged his right shoulder in his side's 3-0 defeat at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday and it is suspected that he may also have fractured his collarbone. Either way, he will be out of action for around four weeks, and will miss his side's game in Belgium on Thursday.

Rising star
The 19-year-old is one of the rising stars of the Leverkusen side, having played in six of his side's seven league matches this season and scored three goals. The wide man is expected to be fit in time for the club's second Group B game against Tottenham Hotspur FC at the BayArena on 23 November.
