Inter lose Recoba for key games

Uruguay forward Alvaro Recoba looks likely to miss the games against AC Milan and FC Spartak Moskva after injuring his calf in the defeat of AS Livorno Calcio.

Uruguay forward Alvaro Recoba looks likely to miss the Serie A derby against AC Milan on Saturday and Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game at FC Spartak Moskva after injuring his calf in last night's 4-1 victory against AS Livorno Calcio.

'Real pity'
The 30-year-old was substituted 30 minutes into the win, which enabled Inter to reclaim the league leadership, and was undergoing tests today to determine the full extent of the injury. "It's a real pity because I was feeling in great condition and I wanted to play in the important games against Milan and Spartak," said Recoba, who made his first appearance of the season last week after recovering from a thigh injury as Inter defeated the Russian side 2-1 in UEFA Champions League Group B to move on to three points from as many games.
