Step up
The 19-year-old made his debut for the first-team in a 2-1 French League Cup defeat at Olympique Lyonnais on 25 October, and joins fellow graduates David Ngog, a striker, and midfielder Clément Chantôme in making the step up. "I hope I can improve in the squad," said Mbala, who is from the suburbs of the French capital. "My signing sends a strong new signal to all the academy players. There is a new spirit there and the players can feel it." Coach Guy Lacombe, who took over in January, has a reputation for giving young players a chance. PSG drew 0-0 at AFC Rapid Bucuresti in their opening UEFA Cup group-stage game.
