Calf injury
The 30-year-old Paraguayan international picked up a calf injury in the 0-0 draw against FC Bayern München on Tuesday and had to be replaced early in the second half by fellow summer recruit Pontus Farnerud. Sporting expect Paredes to be out of action for two weeks, giving him a chance of returning for the Matchday 5 encounter in Milan on 22 November. With two games to play, Sporting are third in Group B, a point behind Inter but will take heart from their 1-0 win in the clubs' first encounter on Matchday 1.
