The Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has named a 22-man squad for the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Belgium, as they look to build on their 2-1 defeat of Portugal.

The Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has named a 22-man squad for the UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier against Belgium in Brussels, as they look to build on their 2-1 Group A victory against Portugal last time out.

Four absentees
The Dutchman is a missing a number of key men, not least suspended FC Spartak Moskva goalkeeper Wojciech Kowalewski who was in outstanding form against the Portuguese. Paweł Golański, Arkadiusz Radomski and Ireneusz Jeleń are also absent through injury. Wisła Kraków duo Dariusz Dudka and Paweł Brożek have been drafted in by Beenhakker for the first time, although both travelled to the FIFA World Cup.

Uncapped Murawski
Lech Poznań midfielder Rafal Murawski is the only uncapped player involved. "I was shocked to receive the call-up," said the 25-year-old. "I just couldn't believe it." Beenhakker, who lives in Brussels, added: "I'm disappointed with the timing of the match as I had ten days to prepare the boys for our other games, but we'll have to handle this problem in the best possible way." Poland and Belgium both have seven points from four games and trail leaders Serbia by three points.

Defenders: Michał Żewłakow (Olympiacos CFP), Marcin Baszczyński (Wisła Kraków), Jacek Bąk (Al Rayyan), Dariusz Dudka (Wisła Kraków), Marcin Wasilewski (Lech Poznań), Grzegorz Bronowicki (Legia Warszawa), Krzysztof Lagiewka (FC Krylya Sovetov Samara).

Midfielders: Radosław Sobolewski (Wisła Kraków), Mariusz Lewandowski (FC Shakhtar Donetsk), Euzebiusz Smolarek (BV Borussia Dortmund), Jacek Krzynówek (VfL Wolfsburg), Jakub Błaszczykowski (Wisła Kraków), Łukasz Garguła (GKS Bełchatów), Przemysław Kaźmierczak (Boavista FC), Rafal Murawski (Lech Poznań).

Forwards: Tomasz Frankowski (CD Tenerife), Maciej Żurawski (Celtic FC), Radosław Matusiak (GKS Bełchatów), Grzegorz Rasiak (Southampton FC), Paweł Brożek (Wisła Kraków).
