Sylvinho signs new Barça deal

FC Barcelona full-back Sylvinho has signed an extension to his contract that will keep the former Brazilian international at the Camp Nou until 2008.

Rewarded
The 32-year-old former Arsenal FC and RC Celta de Vigo left-back, whose contract had been due to expire next summer, said: "I feel I have been rewarded for my work. I'm very happy because this is a sign of the faith that people like our president Joan Laporta, our sporting director 'Txiki' Beguiristain and the coach [Frank Rijkaard] have in me. To play here is like playing at home."

Medals
In two and a half seasons since joining Barcelona from Celta, Sylvinho has won two Spanish titles and the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League. With six appearances this term, he has played 53 Primera División matches for the Catalan club, scoring twice.
