Nancy dealt Macaluso blow

AS Nancy-Lorraine defender Damian Macaluso is sidelined for the UEFA Cup meeting with Blackburn Rovers FC after a thigh injury ruled him out of the rest of 2006.

AS Nancy-Lorraine's Uruguayan defender Damian Macaluso has been ruled out until the end of the year with an injured left thigh. The 26-year-old picked up the problem during the French club's 3-1 Ligue 1 defeat against LOSC Lille Métropole at the weekend and will miss the UEFA Cup Matchday 5 meeting with Blackburn Rovers FC.

Maiden voyage
Nancy, who are already assured of qualification from Group E, need just a point from the game at Blackburn on 13 December to win the section. Forwards Kim (bruised leg) and Issiar Dia (ankle) as well as defender Michaël Chrétien (groin) are suffering from minor injuries but should all be fit for their team's first trip to England in European competition.
