Kapo blow for Auxerre

AJ Auxerre's Olivier Kapo is set to undergo surgery on a groin injury and will be out for six weeks.

AJ Auxerre's French international midfield player Olivier Kapo will undergo surgery on a groin injury on Monday and is expected to be out of action for approximately six weeks.

UEFA Cup doubt
The 22-year-old is now likely to miss both legs of his side's UEFA Cup fourth-round tie against Liverpool FC and may not return to Ligue 1 action until the beginning of March. Kapo, a key player for the Burgundy outfit this term, has had problems with the injury in recent months but has decided not to wait until the end of the season before going under the surgeons' knife.

International debut
Kapo made his international debut under Jacques Santini against Yugoslavia this season and also featured in Les Bleus' 2-1 UEFA EURO 2004qualifying victory over Cyprus.
