Veteran Reuter to carry on

BV Borussia Dortmund's 36-year-old captain, Stefan Reuter, has signed a one-year contract extension.

All agreed
Dortmund's sports manager Michael Zorc confirmed that a deal had been reached with the 36-year-old defender from the club's training camp in Jerez, Spain. "We are glad to have reached an agreement with Stefan because we need his quality and appreciate his influence on the team," he said.

Title ambition
Reuter had no doubt about committing himself to another season with Dortmund, the club he joined from Juventus FC in 1992. "Everything here is great - from the management and the coaching staff to the incredible fans we have," he said, adding that he wanted to win "at least another title with this great team".

Medal collection
A FIFA World Cup winner with West Germany in 1990, Reuter has claimed three 1. Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Champions League winners' medal at Dortmund. He previously played for 1. FC Nürnberg and FC Bayern München. Dortmund are well placed to progress in this season's Champions League competition, occupying second place in their second-stage section, Group C.
