The 21-year-old Barcelona-born defender has been with his hometown club since 2001, rising through the ranks to become a regular this season when he has made 14 Primera División appearances. Chica has also played four times in the UEFA Cup this term and should feature when Espanyol take on AS Livorno Calcio in next month's Round of 32. Chica was part of the Spain squad that won the 2004 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
